Dorrets Sewing Centre belongs to a kind and friendly lady, Annamarie Burger. She has been the owner of the store for 55 years. The store is located in Bloemfontein, one of the capital cities of South Africa. Although a small business, their care and attention to their work are outstanding.
Dorrets has never had any proper branding done for the shop, except for a simple red wordmark reading Dorrets.
The idea was to create a simple logo including the name, the year she bought the store and an icon communicating the type of business. The logo is also red to help with recognition and to not sacrifice the familiarity and trust they've built over the years.
The logo is simple yet attention-grabbing. It communicates the professionalism and openness of the store and the people working there. An icon of thread and needle was used to refer to the type of business - sewing. The icon can also be used on its own as a symbol or as a pattern. The logo is dynamic and is ideal for print and digital use.
